Health Apps is a business dedicated to finding practical solutions to help people achieve a healthy lifestyle and prevent illness.
Founded by Deborah Wilder, a health psychologist with a child who has Type 1 diabetes, Health Apps’ first product is the Cook & Count mobile App. The idea for Cook & Count came from her first hand experience of the challenges of trying to keep her son safe and healthy through accurate carbohydrate counting and insulin calculations.
The Health Apps mission is to find practical solutions to help people achieve a healthy lifestyle and prevent illness; an important factor in this is to encourage home cooking as part of a healthy lifestyle.
The Cook & Count team are passionate about designing simple and enjoyable apps to improve health and wellbeing and encourage behavioural change. We provide trustworthy, reliable and up to date health information, enhancing and reinforcing information from medical professionals. They have performed extensive research to ensure a thorough understanding of the health issue in question, collaborating with clinicians, consultants and academics with special interest in the use of technology for patient education, self-management and health behaviour interventions.
Health Apps works with a range of medical professionals (including diabetes consultants, dietitians, specialist diabetes dietitians and specialist diabetes podiatrists) to ensure the information in Cook & Count is both accurate and relevant. The quality of the dietary data is a one of Cook & Count’s many unique features.
