THE CLIENT
Soil Link is an exciting start-up business with the goal of revolutionising heavy materials management in the construction industry. The founders recognised inefficiencies in the handling of construction materials, leading to unnecessary waste. As a result, they built Soil Link’s Materials Exchange Platform (MEP) which connects construction suppliers with buyers – facilitating cost efficient and sustainable material reuse and distribution.
THE PROJECT
Soil Link had developed the business concept and was putting the final touches onto the materials exchange platform. In early 2024 it needed to secure seed funding to support the ongoing tech development to scale the digital platform.
THE SOLUTION
Stephen Kirk, through SKCI, provided extensive support with:
- Seed Investment: Stephen saw the huge potential in Soil Link and came onboard as an Angel Investor. He went to his network and recruited a number of interested parties, at which point he became the leader of a small Angel Investment group which facilitated the seed investment round that allowed Soil Link to develop their software and start trading.
- Investment Support: SKCI supported Soil Link to produce the necessary materials for their seed investment raise, including the Information Memorandum and financial projections. This support enabled Soil Link to proceed with its platform development and market entry.
- Expert Business Advice: Stephen continued to act as a friend of the business, offering guidance on technology decisions, sales strategy and legal structuring. He provided strategic advice and support through regular meetings and informal conversations.
THE RESULT
- Successful Platform Launch: The seed investment and strategic support allowed Soil Link to launch their minimum viable product and start trading. The platform now supports enterprise-level organisations in managing and trading heavy construction materials.
- Continued Growth: With ongoing support, Soil Link has continued to develop its software and expand its operations. The platform has successfully transitioned from the initial phase and is positioned for future growth.
SKCI, and particularly Stephen Kirk, have been pivotal in helping Soil Link bring our vision to life. Stephen not only believed in the potential of our Materials Exchange Platform but also actively supported us through every stage of our seed investment round. His expertise in business strategy, alongside his commitment as an angel investor, gave us the resources and confidence to launch successfully. SKCI’s ongoing guidance has been invaluable, enabling us to continue growing and positioning us for long-term success in the construction industry.
